IDSA Northeast District Conference

Krista Botsford spoke at the IDSA’s Northeast district Conference on design and sustainability. Engineering and design have long been about how quickly a design or product can be brought to market with as many features as possible. Product development is beginning to steer more and more toward sustainability and “green” engineering. Her presentation covered areas of impact in overall design and some key point to be taken into consideration when addressing environmental or sustainability concerns. She drew from her recent white paper on the topic: Medical Devices and Eco-Compliance: A Proactive Approach. She delineated ways in which the medical device industry is able to adopt eco-compliance measures ahead of likely regulatory restrictions, by learning from measures other industries have had to take in the past decade.
